Want to make your blog the showcase of your website? Then you really need to embrace these five habits to committing to delivering juicy content to your audience.
I wrote my first ever blog post back in 2007. It was a recipe for a dinner that I made that my friends really wanted. At the time, I thought blogging was a bit of a joke. Why on earth share with the world what you are doing? Turns out people love reading about other people.
As the internet has evolved over the years I have noticed that it is now more than ever a source of information. If you want your blog posts to serve they need to help your dream clients and customers. It may be that you educate them with information about your area of expertise or perhaps you give them a dose of entertainment for the day so they walk away with a smile.
There are few golden rules to blogging and these are the habits that I have created to keep my content consistent and coming from a place of service.

DEDICATE TIME TO BLOG
Being consistent when delivering fresh content is important for your SEO (search engine optimisation) and also your audience who read it. If you allocate at least 2 hours a week to writing a blog post, you should be producing something to share with your tribe each week. If you want to be savvy with your time then, instead of plodding through a blog post a week. Why not try and write a few in a week. I usually dedicate a whole week to writing six posts. That way I know I have content scheduled to be released and it is ready to go out and I can focus on other tasks in my business.
EVERYBODY LOVES A GOOD LIST
I remember when blog posts went from storytelling to a nicely packed list. It was a whole new way to write content and now it seems to be the most common form of blog post writing. That is because it converts more eyes than other posts. Don’t get me wrong I still read blog posts that tell a story and if you are clever enough you can also write posts that are storytelling and have a list involved. DON’T EXPECT YOUR POSTS TO SHARE THEMSELVES.
Having a blog on your website that delivers fresh weekly content becomes the fuel to feed your social media channels and your newsletter. You want your content to be seen and for people to engage with it. Don’t just hit publish and run. Those wandering eyes that stop by your post may end up looking at other content you offer or better yet contact you to find out how they can work with you. So share, share, share.

IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU
To be frank, each blog post you write should come from a place of service for your customers and clients. Blog posts are for showcasing your expertise – yes and you can talk about yourself to help explain something but don’t turn it into the ‘me me me show’. It’s boring. Each blog post you craft should help solve a problem for your clients or customers. Think of things that they might be struggling with in their day to day activities that you can help with.
MAKE IT SUPER OBVIOUS THAT YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SIGN UP TO YOUR EMAIL LIST.
Getting folks to your website is one thing but then getting them on your email list is another. And we all want them on our list. Perhaps at the bottom of each of your blog posts, you could have an eye-catching opt-in, a little opt-in teaser in your sidebar or offer a content upgrade on that post. Make it easy for people to get more information like the blog post that they just landed on delivered to their inbox.
